One of the main trends presented in Milan Fashion Week was the velvet. Fabric used in Europe since the Middle Ages, has as one of its main attractions its soft texture. Perfect for winter, adds luxury to any outfit.
Since the first show I attended, from the brand Costume National, until the last (Lucio Vanotti), the material was present. Giorgio Armani called his collection of Black Velvet. Sergio Rossi used the fabric in their shoes. I was in love with a burgundy velvet boot I saw in the presentation of the collection.
If you are unsure of how to include the material in your wardrobe, invest in classic and timeless pieces such as blazers and pants in neutral colors.
A tip is to use velvet pieces on the body part that more favors you, because is a glossy material, so will draw attention to that part.
Those more daring/bold can invest in a total look with only this type of fabric, but using the same texture. Don’t forget to always look for a balanced production.
I’ve sorted out some images for you!
