On my last trip to Italy, I was invited to visit one of the most traditional textile factories in the country, responsible for providing for the biggest brands of the world such as Armani, Dior, DVF, among others.
Located in Como, a region known for its famous lake and especially its strong local textile industry, Serikos was founded in 1984 and since then has been known for bringing together the most advanced production techniques, manual skills and exclusive know-how.
I spent an entire afternoon getting to know all the sectors of the factory, through the various stages of production, closely watching as some simple threads give rise to the most beautiful fabrics that enchant us when paraded on international catwalks.
In addition to observing the operation of the machines and dyeing of silk, I had the opportunity to visit the design departament, the sales sector and also the huge archival collection of fabrics they had created.
Interestingly, most of the time, the factory itself creates the fabric design that will be the starting point for the collections of the largest brands, thus having a direct role as an influencer in the fashion trends worldwide. The care with each phase of this complex process, from the first thread until the final definition of colors, artistic patterns and designs calls attention to Serikos, which makes me understand the reason the major exponentes in the fashion world choose it as fundamental base for their creations.
I was delighted with the beauty and richness of the fabrics and the way they are created and produced. It is a paradise for all those who work with and love fashion.
